Overview

Builder Wrench ("we", "us"), operated by Parallax Sciences Inc., builds tools and software. This policy explains what our website and products collect, why we collect it, and how long we keep it.

What Our Website Records

Our website keeps its own event log. It records which pages and tools you open, when you use a tool, the score and the site name (domain) of each AI readiness inspection you run, when you join a waitlist, and errors. Each event has the time it happened. The event log does not hold your IP address, your browser type or the page you came from. Our web server logs do, for a shorter time: see Server Logs and Backups below.

Events from your browser also hold a random ID that your browser creates on your first visit and keeps in its local storage. Clearing your browser storage removes it. Our website sets no cookies.

In the event log and the usage counts, we store a code made from your IP address with a secret key, instead of the address itself. We use it to count users and apply the daily free limit. The code and the random ID in your browser are pseudonyms, not anonymous data: we could match them to your browser, or to an IP address that we see again.

We leave out visits from tools that say they are automated, such as search engine crawlers. We keep each event for up to 24 months, then delete it. Our server backups can keep a copy of it for longer: see Server Logs and Backups.

Daily Free Limit

To apply the daily free limit, we count each use of a tool under your browser ID and under the code made from your IP address. We delete these counts after 90 days. Our server backups can keep a copy of them for longer: see Server Logs and Backups.

Server Logs and Backups

Like most websites, our web server records each request: your IP address, the address of the page or file you asked for, the page you came from, your browser type and the time. We use these logs for security and to fix problems, and keep them for up to 15 days. Our app logs record errors and the results of scheduled jobs. We keep them for up to 9 weeks.

Backup copies of the whole server, which include these logs, are kept for up to 28 days. We delete any copy kept from a large server change, such as a move to a new server, within 4 months. Anything this policy says we delete can stay in a backup copy until we delete that copy.

Waitlist and Email

If you join a waitlist for an upcoming feature, we store the email address you provide, the feature you signed up for, where on our site you signed up, and the date. We use it to email you when that feature launches, and occasionally to share related product updates. We do not share or sell the address. We keep it until you ask us to remove it, and you can unsubscribe or ask us to remove it at any time by emailing [email protected].

Data We Do Not Collect

• We collect no name or email address unless you contact us or join a waitlist.
• We do not collect your browsing history on other websites.
• We use no advertising or ad-tracking scripts.
• We do not sell data to anyone.

Service Providers

We use a few service providers to run the website. They handle data only to provide their service to us:

• Cloud hosting providers run our servers and store the event log, the server logs, the backups and our database.
• A network provider delivers our pages and protects the site from attacks. Like any network that delivers a website, it sees your IP address. It also counts page visits and page load times with a short script that sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. It may set a security cookie when it needs to check that a visit is not an attack.
• An email delivery provider sends the emails we send you, such as a waitlist announcement.

We do not use advertising networks.

Browser Extensions

Our browser extensions keep their settings in your browser, and they never send your settings, your browsing history or the pages you read to our servers. If you turn on sync in your browser, it may copy some settings to your browser account, such as the sites where you turned an extension on, or the last amount you converted. A few extensions fetch what they need from the web when you use them: a currency converter downloads exchange rates for the currency you choose, an extension that reveals short links asks a short link where it leads when you point at it, and an extension that inspects a site downloads that site's public files. These requests go from your browser to those websites, not to us.

Permissions

Our products ask only for the permissions they need to work, and use them only for what each product does.

Linked Products

Some products listed on this site run on their own websites, and each of those may have its own privacy policy. Please read the privacy policy on each product's website for details.

Children's Privacy

Our products are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If we change this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above. If you keep using our products after a change, the updated policy applies.
